Belmond Afloat in France

With a collection of superb luxurious hotels, safaris, trains and cruises worldwide, it is no wonder that Belmond are a RASK Travel favourite. We are now delighted to share with our exclusive clientele Belmond’s two new barges, Lilas and Pivoine to it’s current fleet.

The new barges, will navigate their way through the northeastern French bucolic rivers and canals. With an on-board swimming pool, ensuite rooms, gourmet food, and 5-star service these are no ordinary barges.

All itineraries are customizable, with optional additional excursions such as hot air balooning, horse riding, go-karting and truffle hunting.

Exploring Alsace-Lorraine

6 Nights aboard Lilas

Vibrant colours reflect the barge’s namesake lilacs and the rich wines of Alsace. Natural linens, handcrafted ironwork and timber wood furnishings add to the rustic charm

Day 1 – Krafft 

Enjoy a welcoming champagne reception as you board Lilas, meet the crew. Dinner is served in the evening.

Day 2 – Strasbourg

After enjoying a breakfast on-board, visit the Domain Sipp Mack winery for some locally produced organic fine wine. After lunch, sail to the capital of the Alsace region – Strasbourg.

Day 3 – Hochfelden

Enjoy a fabulous walking tour of Strasbourg with its hundreds of years of history. After a lunch on-board, cruise effortlessly to Hochfelden. In the evening, indulge in private dinner at the Michellin starred Villa Rene Lalique restaurant, in a Mario Botta designed dining room overlooking the gorgeous French countryside.

Day 4 – Saverne

After breakfast visit the Meteor Brewery and then cruise to Saverne – the home of the Château des Rohan that was once the residence of the Bishops of Strasbourg. In the evening relax with a cocktail reception and dinner on-board.

Day 5 – Lutzelbourg

Cruise to the ‘route des vins’ and then onto Lutzelbourg through the Vosges Mountains

Day 6 – Arzviller

In the morning experience a visit to the Château Lutzelbourg before cruising to Arzviller – home of the 45-meter boat lift. Being your last night on-board, enjoy a farewell dinner on-board.

Day 7 – Depature

After breakfast, disembark from the barge.

A Taste of Champagne


Sample the finest local vintages as you cruise the region renowned for sparkling wine

Day 1 – Meaux

Board the Belmond Pivoine where you will be greeted by the crew, followed by dinner on-board. Your fabulous barge contains a pool, sundeck, lounge, dining area and 4 en-suite cabins.

Day 2 – Courtaron 

Enjoy a delightful breakfast before visiting the 17th Century Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. Lunch will then be served onboard before you cruise to the picturesque rural town of Courtaron.

Day 3 – Château Thierry

Today you will visit Château Thierry and Belleau Wood, the site famous for its World War I battle.

Day 4 – Cumières

As you cruise upstream you will shortly find yourself in charming Cumières where you will get the opportunity to visit champagne house Pol Roger. Indulge in an evening champagne-picnic before dinner at Hostellerie la Briqueterie.

Day 5 – Tours sur Marne

Cruise eastwards to Tours sur Marne. Visit the vineyards of Ployez-Jacquemar.

Day 6 – Chalons en Champagne

An enjoyable morning cruise will take you to Chalons en Champagne. After lunch, visit Reims Cathedral where the kings of France were once crowned. A delightful farewell dinner onboard will be served in the evening.

Day 7 – Departure 

Disembark after breakfast.
