Day 1 – Arrival
Upon arrival at Lisbon airport you will be greeted and transferred to the Bairro Alto boutique hotel situated in the heart of historic downtown neighbourhood, next to the bohemian Bairro Alto and the chic, cultural and trendy Chiado districts.
Day 2 – Lisbon
After breakfast enjoy a private tour of the city’s main sights.
Venture into the famous historic traditional neighbourhoods found in Chiado, Bairro alto and Alfama. Visit the Castle of Saint George and enjoy the spectacular views over the city and Tagus River from its hill.
As the day draws to a close, visit one of city’s finest restaurants for your introduction to gourmet Portuguese cuisine.
Days 3 & 4 – Porto
In the morning take a 1st-class high-speed train to Porto and check-in to The Yeatman – a fabulous hotel with its own wine cellar that houses one of the most extensive collections of fine Portuguese wine.
Porto shares its name with the fortified-wine, where it originates from. The city has numerous port cellars in the Vila Nova de Gaia neighbourhood which are open to those wishing to taste and learn about port. Sip port as you gaze out onto the Douro River that runs through this city.
Days 5 & 6 – Douro Valley
After checking out of your hotel in Porto, collect your hire car and drive eastwards to the Douro Valley. As you enter the Douro region you will find a landscape of green hills rich in vineyards and tranquility.
Your hotel in the Douro Valley is the fabulous Six Senses. This beautifully renovated 19th-century manor house overlooks the Douro River from its hilltop position. Despite the building’s historic roots, the rooms are modern, minimalist and chic.
For a delightful daytime excursion, enjoy a private cruise along the Douro River followed by a visit to a vineyard.
Day 7 – Belmonte
After checking out of the Six Sense Douro Valley Hotel drive southwards towards your next hotel in Montforte. During the drive, stop at the historic city of Belmonte along the way. With its 13th Century castle and old Jewish quarter steeped in history, Belmonte is well worth the visit.
After visiting the castle and taking an optional private tour of the area, continue driving south towards Montforte where you will be staying at the Torre de Palma hotel where amenities include a winery and a refined restaurant combining rustic and modern furnishings. There are indoor and outdoor pools, and there’s a spa with its own Turkish bath.
Enjoy dinner at at the Basilii, where you can savour the local Alentejo region’s flavours with an extra touch of sophistication.
Day 8 – Montforte
After breakfast at the hotel, how about indulge in a spa treatment, a swim in the delightful pool or try riding a Lusitano horse in the hotel surroundings.
Enjoy lunch with a glass of Portuguese wine from the nearby vineyards, and gaze out into the greenery as you enjoy this indulgent experience.
Days 9 & 10 – Comporta
After breakfast, drive westwards to the village of Comporta in the Tróia Peninsula near the Atlantic coast. Located on a gorgeous 17 acre estate, surrounded by umbrella pines and cork trees, wild sand dunes, stunning rice fields and over 60km of pristine, white-sand beaches is the Sublime Comporta Hotel – your superb accommodation for the next two nights.
Day 11 – Departure day
After breakfast, check-out of the hotel and drive to Lisbon International Airport to board your flight to your onward destination.
