DAY ONE: Arrive in Colombo
Upon arrival at Colombo International Airport you will be greeted and taken by private car to your Uga Residence hotel. Spend the day getting acquainted with your surroundings and enjoy the comforts of your Victorian townhouse hotel.
DAY TWO: Colombo
After breakfast, enjoy a tour of the bustling city’s sights – the fort, Independence Square and Cinnamon Gardens. Discover the Sri Lankan history during your walking tour and learn about the Dutch and English influences that are evident in the city’s Colonial architecture. With plenty of fine dining and shopping experiences your day will be filled with excitement and culture.
DAY THREE: Wilpattu
After enjoying a 5-star Sri Lankan breakfast you will be taken to the Wilpattu National Park. As the largest national park in the country, and amongst one of the most respected in Asia, you will be amazed by sheer variety in vegetation – from the dense jungle to the open scrubland and windswept sand dune, Wilpattu has it all.
After enjoying the famous villus lakes complete your national park safari by spotting elephant herds, leopards, spotted deer, wild boar, mongoose and crocodiles!
As the sun sets, head back to your 5 star luxury campsite lodge for drinks around the bonfire and a bbq dinner.
DAY FOUR: Sigiriya
Following your a morning safari in the Wilpattu national park you will be escorted to the ‘Cultural Triangle’ – a must see for all visitors to Sri Lanka.
The Hiriwaduna village awaits you in the afternoon – with a tractor ride through a banana plantation the ultimate way to get acquainted with the area.
Experience the delights of crossing a reservoir in a traditional ‘oruwa’ boat to visit the villagers who will be looking forward to showing you their cooking and farming techniques.
Spend the night in a luxury paddy or marsh dwelling at the Jetwing Vil Uyana luxury eco resort, surrounded by unspoiled vegetation.
DAY FIVE: Sigiriya
After a delicious hotel breakfast head to the Sigiriya rock fortress – a UNESCO world heritage site. During the 5th Century this ‘Fortress in the Sky’ was built under the auspices of the King Kasyapa.
Then head to Polonnaruwa ancient city to listen to the tales of the ancient king’s court. Its 12th Century ruins within a compact garden.
Back at the hotel a naturalist will guide you through the surroundings to spot loris’s – the mystical Sri Lankan creatures.
DAY SIX: Kandy
Enjoy a scenic drive to Kandy up in the hills of Sri Lanka. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage caves at Dambulla dating back to the 1st Century BC. Enjoy lunch at the Matale Heritage Centre which includes an outstanding 25 dishes to sample.
In the evening you will get to experience a spectacular cultural performance show before catching a tranquil night’s sleep at the Kandy House boutique hotel
DAY SEVEN: Kandy
Take in the breathtaking sights of Kandy such as the Royal Palace and the Temple of the Tooth. Visit the botanical gardens of Peradeniya with over 4000 species of trees and plants to discover.
Spend the evening at Rahju’s remote cottage up on the hilltop. Gaze down upon the Hunas Range whilst enjoying an evening of contemporary art, philosophy and reflection.
DAY 8: Hatton
Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime scenic rail journey to Sri Lanka’s finest tea country. From the comfort of your seat, enjoy the spectacular views as the train navigates through the luscious countryside. In the evening relax in your luxury bungalow at the Ceylon Tea Trails hotel – the world’s first tea bungalow resort.
DAY 9: Hatton
The resident tea farmer of the bungalow will personally take you on a tour of the tea plantations, teaching you on the art of picking and manufacturing tea. Should you wish, the tea factory will be willing to give you a personal tea tasting experience.
DAY 10 & 11: Tangalle
Head to the charming Amanwella hotel in Tangalle where you will be spending the next few days relaxing by the pool and beach.
DAY 12: Tangalle & Galle
A driver will take you to the picturesque colonial town of Galle where you will begin with a personal walking tour of the town including the fort and the local sites. Then visit an authentic mask making workshop where you will be taught to craft your very own Sri Lankan style traditional mask!
DAY 13: Airport
A private car will collect you from your hotel to take you back to the airport for your departure home.
